Claire Hodsman Client Manager
Claire joined Hunter Gee Holroyd during the merger with Gardiners Chartered Accountants in July 2016.
After studying Business and Finance at university, Claire joined the profession in 2002. Claire qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2004 and as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2005, winning prizes in both sets of exams.
Claire looks after a range of clients across various sectors including construction and property management. Claire has particular experience in advising buy to let landlords.
In her time away from the office, Claire enjoys spending time with family, reading, watching films, and shopping.
James Pullein Client Manager
Having joined us in 2005 straight from college, James progressed through the AAT and ACA qualifications and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2012.
James manages a portfolio of owner managed businesses and has gained experience in all aspects of the practice through working across all three of our offices.
James is also the firms support person for our Accountancy software and the lead for cloud based systems and Xero implementation.
When James is not in the office, he spends his time playing cricket and golf and would love to travel the world mountain biking!
Jessica Simpson Client Manager
Jessica joined us in 2004 after completing her A-levels. She progressed through the Accountancy qualifications AAT and ACA and is now our most recent qualified Chartered Accountant.
Jess works extensively in new company formations and in raising finance for clients within our Corporate Finance department. She is also our Sage specialist.
In her spare time, Jess enjoys running, shopping and spending time with her family.
Mark Scholefield Client Manager
Mark has worked with us since 1981 and currently manages a portfolio of small to medium sized businesses.
Mark's responsibilities include the organisation of workflow within the practice, an active role within the accounts production and review process and maintaining client contact.
Mark specialises in the farming and agricultural sector.
Away from the office Mark enjoys reading, cycling and following a variety of sports.
Ming Wang Senior Accountant
Ming joined us in 2004 and is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians.
She looks after sole traders, partnerships and companies accounts, as well as their tax returns.
Ming graduated from Shanghai International Business University and is fluent in both written and spoken Chinese.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, socialising with friends and family and learning new skills.
Nicola Durham Senior Accountant
Nicky joined HGH in 2002 after successfully completing a BA (Hons) degree in business and management studies.
She is AAT and ATT qualified and is primarily involved in the preparation of accounts, tax and VAT returns.
She is also the self-appointed HGH social events co-ordinator and member of the ‘Fun Committee’, responsible for organising team events outside of the work environment.
When she isn’t at work, Nicky enjoys spending time with her family, going to the gym, and shopping – lots of shopping.
Owen Willis Senior Accountant
Owen joined Hunter Gee Holroyd in July 2016 during the merger with Gardiners Chartered Accountants. Owen has worked in the accountancy profession in York for over 17 years.
Owen’s areas of expertise are payroll, VAT returns, bookkeeping (using Xero Cloud Accounting) and self-assessment tax returns.
During his spare time, Owen likes to play golf, football (he is currently completing his FA level 1 course to become a football coach) and spend time with his 2 children.
Paul Dyson Easingwold Office Manager
Paul joined us in 1995 and after a brief spell in the York office he is now based at our Easingwold Office.
Paul has a wealth of experience but particularly enjoys legitimately reducing his client’s tax bills.
When Paul is not in the office he enjoys cycling and spending time with his family.
Paul Morris Tax Manager
Paul Morris, who is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser, has over 14 years of experience in the accountancy profession, following a career as an engineer in the petrochemical industry.
He brings considerable experience in advising clients on Capital Gains Tax, Capital Allowances and Research and Development taxation for business start-ups.
He will be based in the York office and will also work in the Filey office one day a week.
Peter Maxwell Client Manager
Peter joined us in 1991 and has a wealth of experience working with small to medium sized businesses.
Peter manages a business portfolio and enjoys analysing and interpreting financial information and other data to produce relevant financial accounts.
When Peter is not in the office he enjoys spending time with his family and following his local football team.
Rachel Brent Filey Client Manager
Rachel joined Hunter Gee Holroyd in the Filey Office in October 2005. She spent a couple of years working in the York office before returning to Filey.
Rachel is AAT qualified and is working towards her ACCA qualifications.
Rachel has a young family, so enjoys spending time with them, going to the gym and shopping.
Robert Hancox Audit Manager
Robert qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1998 and has more than 17 years experience of working with small to medium sized businesses.
Robert also works extensively with charities and solicitors supporting them with advice, preparation of accounts, specialist audit and independent examination services.
When Robert is not in the office he enjoys listening to music, swimming and going to the cinema.
Robert Salenius Tax Manager
Robert qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1991 and has more than 26 years of experience working with small and medium sized businesses and private clients.
Robert enjoys explaining the intricacies of tax law to clients and helping them to reduce their tax bills.
Outside of the office, Robert enjoys reading, music and walking.
Sharon Cox Client Manager
Member of Association of Accounting Technicians and Member of Association of Tax Technicians.
Sharon joined us in 1989 as an Accounts Trainee and has now been a client manager in our farming department for more than 10 years.
She works in both our Easingwold and York offices and looks after a range of clients from small sole trader businesses to large partnerships and limited companies.
In her spare time Sharon enjoys going to the gym, listening to music and shopping.
Tracey Atkinson Senior Accountant
Tracey joined HGH in 2013 and is based in the Filey Office. She is a Member of The Association of Accounting Technicians.
Tracey has worked in an accountancy practice since leaving school. She then had 10 years out (for good behaviour!) working as a School Business Manager. Since moving to North Yorkshire Tracey has returned to accountancy!
In her spare time Tracey enjoys researching family history, yoga, spending time with family and friends, exploring the great North Yorkshire Moors, and drinking red wine responsibly!
Edward Butterfield Trainee Accountant
Edward completed his A Levels at a local school and decided that working in the financial services sector was preferable to University.
Edward is studying for his AAT qualification at Kaplan Financial in Leeds.
In his spare time, Edward likes socialising with his friends and family and playing football.
Edward is also a life-long follower of Manchester City.
Charlotte Smith Junior Accounting Technician
Charlotte joined Hunter Gee Holroyd in April 2016. She is currently studying for the AAT qualification at East Riding College, Beverley.
Charlotte is a Xero Certified Advisor.
In her spare time Charlotte enjoys playing hockey, tennis and spending time with her family.
Frances Braithwaite Filey Office Reception
Frances has worked for Hunter Gee Holroyd for 23 years. She has seen many changes in the Filey office!
Frances enjoys going to the gym and keeping fit. She also loves camping.
Frances has a big family who have all left home, so in her spare time enjoys family get-togethers. There's never a dull moment!
James Shaw Semi-Senior Accountant
James joined us from the accountancy sector and is qualified at AAT level 4.
He is hoping to progress his studies further in the near future.
James will be responsible for preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and companies.
James enjoys playing football for his local team and attending live music events.
Kelsey Cook Trainee Accountant
Kelsey joined the firm from college in September 2014. After completing AS Level Accountancy, Kelsey decided an apprenticeship would be the ideal route into an Accountancy Career and is currently studying the AAT qualification at Kaplan Financial in Leeds.
In her spare time, Kelsey enjoys spending time with friends and family, shopping and takes an interest in Fashion!
Clare Walker Payroll Manager
Clare joined us in 2008 and heads our payroll support team, managing a number of small to medium sized businesses.
She provides help and advice on payroll and is also a Sage payroll specialist.
Clare is a member of CIPP (The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals)
In addition to this, Clare also provides assistance with Bookkeeping and VAT for a number of our clients.
Away from work, Clare likes to relax in the kitchen and is a keen baker, specialising in cakes!
Sally Ward Book keeping and Payroll
Sally joined Hunter Gee Holroyd in March 2013 after a career in banking.
Sally works in the Easingwold office. She deals with payroll, book keeping and secretarial duties.
Sally is a Member of CIPP (The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals).
In her spare time, Sally enjoys playing tennis, making a fool of herself at zumba classes, listening to all types of music & spending time with her family.
Sarah Richardson Payroll, Bookkeeping and VAT assistant.
Sarah joined the payroll team at Hunter Gee Holroyd in June 2016 from a local building society.
Sarah says her specialism in the office is making brews (!), but her skillset also extends to payroll, bookkeeping and VAT support.
In her spare time Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially her young family. She also enjoys horse riding and competing, Greyhound Racing, running and keeping fit.

Julia joined Hunter Gee Holroyd in September 2014 in a newly created Marketing Manager role.
Julia joined from the professional services sector with a background in online and service sector marketing.
In her spare time Julia enjoys spending time with family and friends, and dancing with her children in the kitchen!

Nick Lawson Wealth Management Director
BSc (Hons) Chemistry, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analysis, Dip PFS – Regulated Financial Planning.
Nick joined the Financial Services Team at HGH Wealth in October 2011 having already gained 11 years’ experience in the Financial Services sector providing specialist investment solutions to private and business clients with a variety of planning and wealth management needs.
Nick is a fully qualified investment professional and committed to the provision of holistic, independent financial advice services to all our clients as well as to his own further personal development as a Chartered Financial Planner.
Prior to joining us, Nick has worked throughout the country but was born and bred in York and returned to his roots to settle with his young family – the focus of his time outside the office.
Nick also enjoys looking after his marine aquarium and playing golf.
Susan Ruddick Business Development Manager
With more than 20 years’ experience working in the Financial Services Industry as both an administrator and adviser, Susan’s role within the firm currently focuses on the support and development of our Wealth Management Services to existing and new clients of Hunter Gee Holroyd and on the promotion of our services to the wider business and private client community in York and North Yorkshire.
Susan also works closely with our firms Professional Wealth Management partners and advisers to ensure bespoke investment solutions are designed and managed for all our clients.
When Susan is not in the office she enjoys spending time with her family, walking, dancing and Scuba Diving.
Sharon Ward Administration Manager
Sharon joined the financial services team as an administrator in December 2003.
Sharon’s responsibilities lie in the smooth running of the HGH Wealth Management office ensuring Nick and Susan are prepared with all the necessary paperwork to deliver seamless client service.
Sharon is usually the first point of contact for clients and providers when contacting HGH Wealth Management.
Outside of the office, Sharon enjoys being a Brownie Guider, listening to music and following Castleford Tigers rugby league team.
